History of that forgotten club
The club was founded on January 4, 1920, but in 1922 it was dissolved due to the Weimar-Poland border. Bytom (In german Beuthen O.s.) was on the German side, until 1945, when World War II ended. Polonia was reactivated in 1945 thanks to the players and owners of Pogoń Lwów, and in 1948 was promoted to the Ekstraklasa (Then I liga) for the first time. Polonias first relegate was in 1949 to the then II League, but in 1951 came back. Polonia Bytom won the national championship twice in 1954 and 1962, and was the only Polish team to win the European Cup (Rappan Cup (Intertoto) ) and the Americas Cup in the USA. In 1974/75 Polonia got relegated In the 1980 season, again the club was relegated from Ekstraklasa, (skipping the 1986/87 season) she played in the then II liga(now I liga), and in 2001 it dropped to the then III liga(Now II Liga).
